چکیده

The purpose of this guideline is to offer to the nuclear medicine team a framework, which could prove helpful in daily practice. This guideline contains information related to the procedure and indications of measurement of glomerular filtration rate using blood samples in children. The present document is inspired by the report of the Radionuclides in Nephrourology Committee on renal clearance , but contains information more specifically adapted to the European practice e.g. the choice of tracer. This guideline summarises the views of the Paediatric Committee of the European Association of Nuclear medicine. It should be taken in the context of ”good practice” of nuclear medicine and local regulation.

Glomerular filtration rate determination by creatinine and cystatin-C in patients with acute pyelonephritis

Background: Measurement of glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and monitoring of it in any patient on nephrotoxic drugs is very important. Recently, cystatin C (cys-C) has been introduced as a better marker for determining and monitoring renal function than creatinine especially in a mild decrease of GFR. This study was done to assess the change of GFR measurement based on serum Cys-C and creatini...

First Report on the Percentiles of the Glomerular Filtration Rate in Iranian Children Using the 2009 Schwartz Equations

The glomerular filtration rate (GFR) is widely considered the best overall index of renal function. The Schwartz equations are designed for measuring the GFR in children between 1 and 16 years of age. In the present study, we investigated the percentiles of the GFR in a general population of Iranian children with no known renal disease via the 2009 Schwartz equations (updated and combined equat...

Schwartz Formula: Is One k-Coefficient Adequate for All Children?

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVE Plasma-creatinine-based equations to estimate the glomerular filtration rate are recommended by several clinical guidelines. In 2009, Schwartz et al. adapted the traditional Schwartz equation to children and adolescents but did not find different k-coefficients between children and adolescents (k = 36.5 for all patients). We reevaluated the coefficient of the 2009-Schwartz ...

Chronic kidney disease stages are appropriate at all ages.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is associated with multiple detrimental consequences to the cardiovascular and musculoskeletal systems. The effects of CKD are even more significant when they begin in childhood as they affect growth and (neuro-) development as well. The division into stages of CKD serves as a guideline for the physician to better anticipate and treat early and later manifestations ...

Determination of glomerular function in advanced renal failure.

In 15 children with advanced chronic renal failure, glomerular filtration rate was determined by different methods. Inulin clearance correlated well with the mean of creatinine and urea clearance, and also with 51-chromium edetic acid (EDTA) clearance measured over 24 hours. The absolute values of creatinine clearance and of 51Cr-EDTA clearance measured up to 8 hours were higher than inulin cle...
